San Bernardino County recently completed improvements to the West Fontana Flood Channel. As a result, the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved a Letter of Map Revision (LOMA) for the City of Fontana. This revision will remove the floodplain designation for a section of Fontana.
The affected areas are bounded approximately by the Metrolink line to the north, Cypress to the east, the Interstate 10 to the south and Catawba to the west. Homeowners who are affected by these changes will receive a letter in the mail informing them about these changes. It is advised that property owners in this area contact their insurance company directly and request to remove their flood insurance. The revision will take effect October 3, 2022.
