Things to See and Do in December

Holiday Events in Fontana

It’s the most wonderful time of the year in Fontana as we invite everyone to join in the holiday cheer at our family-fun festive events. From the City’s Official Tree Lighting Ceremony and Festival of Winter to Pictures with Santa and Kid’s Paint Nights, Fontana is sure to keep your spirits bright all month long.

Thursday, December 2 - Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

The season kicks off with the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, December 2 in front of Fontana City Hall (8353 Sierra Ave.) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The evening’s festivities include holiday performers, refreshments, guest speakers and the official lighting of the 20-foot tree. Attendees will also get a visit from our jolly friend from the North Pole.

Friday, December 3 & Saturday, Dec. 4 Pictures with Santa at Three Neighborhood Centers 

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, so bring a camera and get ready to take Pictures with Santa Claus at three City Neighborhood Centers. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.  For more information on Pictures with Santa, please call (909) 854-5100 or visit Recreation.Fontana.org.

  • Friday, December 3, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., residents can take pictures with Santa at the Jessie Turner Health & Fitness Community Center (15556 Summit Avenue) and the Don Day Neighborhood Center (14501 Live Oak Avenue).
  • Saturday, December 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., residents can take pictures with Santa at the Heritage Neighborhood Center (7350 W. Liberty Parkway).

Saturday, December 4 - Underwater Pictures with Santa

Looking for a non-traditional, one-of-a-kind photo with Santa? The Fontana Aquatics Center (15610 Summit Ave.) is hosting Underwater Pictures with Santa on Saturday, December 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Throw on your best holiday swimsuit and take a dive underwater with Scuba Santa for a memorable photo. Saturday, December 11- Annual Christmas Parade (New Route)

On Saturday, December 11 Sierra Avenue comes alive with the Annual Christmas Parade at 10:00 a.m. hosted by the Fontana Exchange Club. This year the parade will travel a new route! The parade will follow tradition and begin on the corner of Arrow Boulevard and Sierra Avenue as always. The parade will travel South down Sierra Avenue until it reaches Orange Way where it will turn and travel East to Mango Avenue and then North on Mango Avenue returning to Arrow Boulevard. This family-friendly occasion showcases holiday-themed floats, music, Santa Claus and well-known local figures. Be sure to bring a camera to capture all the dazzling floats and orchestrated marching bands. For more information, please call (909) 350-0301.

Saturday, December 11- Annual Festival of Winter “Fontanaland”

Following the Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 11 the City of Fontana is hosting the Annual Festival of Winter “Fontanaland” at Miller Park (17004 Arrow Blvd.) from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. With something for all ages to enjoy, This vibrant community event features festive arts and crafts activities, Christmas Candyland-themed attractions, carnival rides, sledding, snow play, live entertainment on two stages, and other food and novelty vendors. Fun is available for all ages. This event is free and open to all.


Fontana Arts Make & Create Workshops, Paint Nights & More

Join the Art Depot Gallery all month long for lots of merry art activities for all ages. Pre-registration required for any of the paid events. Please reserve your spot for any of these fun activities by visiting FontanaArts.org, call (909) 349-6975 or registering online here.

  • Saturday, December 4 - Make & Create Workshop from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., create a winter-themed craft. Open to all ages. $7 admission.
  • Friday, December 10 - Fontana Unified School District High School Art Show at the Art Depot Gallery from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Free admission.
  • Friday, December 17 - Jingle Bell Rock Kid’s Paint Night at the Art Depot from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 m. Participants ages 5-12 will create a canvas painting, hear an exciting story, and enjoy a themed art activity for $7 per person. Virtual and in-person options available.
  • Saturday, December 18 - Little Tykes Paint Night from 3:30-4:45 p.m. for $7 per person.
