Fontana Police ICAC Detectives Arrest a Suspect for Possession and Distribution of Child Pornography

FPD Press Release

Detectives from the Fontana Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force identified an individual who was uploading and distributing multiple images that contained child pornography. The investigation lead ICAC Detectives to a residence in the 31000 Block of All View Dr. in Running Springs. Members of the Fontana Police Department Fugitive Apprehension Team along with ICAC Detectives served a search warrant on the residence and confiscated multiple electronic devices. A forensic review of the suspect’s electronic devices revealed they contained in excess of 16,000 images containing child pornography.

On 05/15/19, suspect John Edward Charlier (61) of Running Springs was arrested for possession and distribution of child pornography. Due to the graphic nature of the child pornography in his possession, Detectives obtained a bail enhancement. Charlier was booked at West Valley Detention Center and is being held on a $500,000.00 bail.

Charlier was found to be employed by the Redlands Unified School District as a District Help Desk Technician. Detectives worked closely with Redlands Unified School District Officials who cooperated fully with the investigation. Detectives inspected the work area of Charlier and there was no evidence of any illicit activities occurring at his workplace.

Currently, there is no indication that there are any outstanding victims related to the school district at this time.
