11-Year-Old Boy Dies in Bicycle Accident
On 03/31/19, at approximately 3:00 pm, officers responded to the 9200 block of Citrus regarding a bicycle collision. An 11 year old boy was riding his bicycle with his friends inside an apartment complex. The victim fell off his bike after his front tire collided with the rear tire of his 8-year-old friend’s bicycle. The 11-year-old struck the handlebars and fell from his bicycle. The victim’s mother attempted to transport the him to the hospital. She stopped at San Bernardino and Juniper where medical aid was summoned. Paramedics arrived and began providing medical aid to the victim. The victim was ultimately transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Fontana PD’s MAIT team responded and handled the investigation.
Neither child was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision but it does not appear to be a factor in his injuries. This is a tragic accident and our thoughts are with the families involved. Please take this time to talk about bicycle safety with your children.
