The South Fontana Sports Park will be located on Santa Ana Avenue between Cypress Avenue and Juniper Avenue. It will provide a high-quality recreation area with activities for all ages. From athletes to dog walkers to picnickers, everyone will have their niche within the South Fontana Sports Park.
On October 22, 2018, a land dedication ceremony was held to officially announce the future park. The 17-acre park is designed to feature:
Four synthetic turf football/soccer fields
Sports lighting for nighttime play
ADA accessible playground
Concessions, storage, and restroom buildings
Conceptual design work initiated when the City anticipates the acquisition of former chicken egg ranch property on Santa Ana Avenue between Oleander and Cypress Avenues.
Project shelved, alongside Central City Park, after State dissolves all redevelopment agencies.
Project restarted and park location moves one block east to Santa Ana Avenue between Cypress and Juniper Avenues. Staff resumes work on construction plans and documents. The City acquires the property and holds a land dedication ceremony.
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review completed and approved. Notice of Decision (NOD) filed with the State.
City receives a cost estimation of $19.5 million.
Layout of amenities re-designed.

Community Update Meeting
