Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design

The Fontana Police Department uses the principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) in reviewing plans for new construction in the City. Implementing CPTED principles into new development reduces the likelihood of criminal activity and creates safer places for the community.

CPTED Principles

  • Access control
  • Surveillance
  • Territorial control
  • Maintenance

For existing residences and businesses, CPTED inspections are offered free of charge. This service will provide an assessment of the location and offer different strategies for basic crime prevention. Contact Wendy Ratcliffe at (909) 356-7159 or email.
