The Fontana Police Department offers Live Scan fingerprinting services for those needing to be fingerprinted for background checks for employment, school or volunteer positions.  Live Scan involves digitally scanning fingerprints, which can be electronically transmitted to both State and Federal authorities when background checks are required.  Live Scan digital submissions provide the quickest way to submit and process background checks. 

How Much Does it Cost for Live Scan Fingerprints
Live Scan fingerprinting is offered to both residents and non-residents for a fee of $18.00.  Depending on the reason for the fingerprinting, additional Department of Justice and FBI fees may be applicable (Fee schedule).  All fees will be due and payable when you arrive for your scheduled appointment.

When Can I Have Live Scan Fingerprints Done
Live Scan fingerprinting is done by appointment only on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  To schedule an appointment call the Records Division at (909) 356-7103.

What is Needed for Live Scan Fingerprinting
It is important that you bring the authorized "Request for Live Scan Service" form with you.  The Live Scan cannot be completed without it and we do not supply the form.  Please make sure the form is completed prior to your arrival.  Applicants must present valid photo identification.  Expired identification cards will not be accepted.  Acceptable forms of identification include the following:
  • California driver's license
  • California DMV identification card
  • Valid out-of-state driver's license
  • Military ID
  • Passport
  • Resident Alien Card/Immigration/Green Card
