The Fontana Housing Authority acquired approximately 3.81 acres of land on the southeast corner of Sierra Avenue and Orange Way as the site of the three-story, 90-unit Senior Affordable Housing Facility. The facility consists of:
72 one-bedroom, one bathroom units
18 two-bedroom, one bathroom units
It also includes over 4,500 square feet of community / recreation area. This area encompasses a community room, fitness equipment, pool tables, a computer / media room, a library, outdoor swimming pool, and two spa facilities. The facility was designed to create an extremely attractive entrance statement to the downtown community. In addition, the facility is architecturally compatible with the Phase I (Gardens at Sierra) facility located on the northwest corner of Sierra and Orange Way.
This downtown senior housing facility is offered at affordable rates to very-low income senior citizens (with incomes at or below 50% of median income).
This Plaza at Sierra was the fourth and final phase of the downtown senior communities that concentrated on re-gentrifying the downtown area. Along with the Village at Sierra, the Gardens at Sierra, and the Fountains at Sierra, the Plaza at Sierra have re-gentrified the area and created a beautiful entrance into downtown.
