The Fontana Police Department Communications Center is the primary safety answering point for all 9-1-1 emergency calls in the city of Fontana. They are also responsible for dispatching police field units and animal services. The Communications Center is staffed with a Communications Supervisor, four Shift Supervisors, 17 Dispatchers, five Call Takers, and an On-Call Dispatcher.

The Fontana Police Department Communications Center receives an average of 6,000 emergency calls per month and 13,000 non-emergency business and administrative calls. On an average, they enter approximately 8,900 calls for service per month.

The Communications Center is the critical link between the citizens of Fontana and the officers in the field. When you call the Police Department, you will speak with a highly trained police dispatcher or call taker who is there to provide a high quality of service to the community. They are trained to handle all types of calls and are responsible for the deployment and coordination of field resources for both emergency and non-emergency requests for assistance.

The Communications Center is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including a Computer Aided Dispatch system (CAD), Automated Vehicle Locator and mapping system (AVL), computerized intelligent telephone workstations, and a countywide 800 MHz radio system.
