Internet Safety Training

FONTANA -
The Fontana Police Department has
developed a training program that is being presented to parents and
other concerned citizens regarding Internet Safety. The idea behind the
training is to provide parents and other concerned citizens with
information as to how children are utilizing websites such as MySpace
and other social networking sites (such as chat rooms). The training
will explain, as well as demonstrate, the dangers children become
exposed to through this type of Internet use.
After the initial presentation, a live
Internet demonstration of the information presented will occur. The
training is complimented by a detailed hand-out that will be provided to
those in attendance. It is the goal of the training to provide citizens
with not only information, but the tools and knowledge to make a
difference. Parents and other concerned citizens will be more aware of
the dangers children face while engaged in social networking activities.
This will allow citizens to work with police departments to “Keep
Children Safe”.
The
Fontana Police Department has joined with the Fontana Unified School
District to make this training possible. The training is free
and available to anybody who wishes to attend (including Law Enforcement
Agencies), however seating is limited. To reserve a spot please call
(909)350-7705. The training is scheduled for June 15, 2007 at 9:00am and
will be held at Fontana City
Hall, 8353 Sierra Ave.
The training is scheduled to last approximately 90
minutes and is a must for every parent.
