Cruelty to Animals

FONTANA - On July 31,
2007 at approximately 1046 hours, Officers were dispatched to 17869
Laurel Avenue in Fontana to assist Animal Control Officers. Suspect
Leonardo Benito, age 37, was served with a court order to relinquish
custody of four malnourished horses. As Animal control was waiting
for a horse trailer, suspect Benito slipped out the back and removed
three of the four horses and fled the scene. With the assistance
of neighbors, Officers were able to locate one of the horses at 2182
Baseline and two more at 1660 Laurel. One horse died upon arrival
at the Animal Control office.
