permits can a person get in a month or year?
Residents can get up to six (6) permits per month. If they
get six (6) per month it will total up to 72 per year.

the permit last?
The permit lasts for three (3) days (72 hours).

How long do I
have to wait to get another permit?
Residents have to wait two (2) days (48 hours) before they can
get another permit. Remember permits cannot run concurrent.

Where and how
can a person get an RV or Oversized vehicle permit?
Residents can get a permit at the Summit Heights contact station
(Monday - Friday from 10am to 6pm), the Fontana Police Department
(Monday - Friday from 8am to 5pm), or by logging on to
www.fontanapd.org.

FREE. There is no charge for a permit.

Where can a
person park an RV or Oversized vehicle?
Residents can only park their oversized vehicle or RV in front
of their residence or on the side of their residence if they live on
a corner lot.

How long can a
person park an RV or Oversized vehicle before getting a ticket?
Residents have four (4) hours to move their
oversized vehicle or RV. After that time they can be cited.

Do
Officers/CSO's have to mark an Oversized Vehicle or RV prior to
citing it?
No, Oversized Vehicles/RV's do not constitute an abandoned
vehicle, therefore they are not marked. That means no
orange sticker will be placed on your Oversized Vehicle.

Do
Officers/CSO's have to notify the owner of an Oversized Vehicle/RV
who has no permit that they have to move their vehicle in four (4)
hours?
No, an Officer/CSO is under no obligation to notify owners of
Oversized Vehicles/RV's.

Can a person
move the RV or Oversized Vehicle from place to place as long as it
is not in one spot longer than four (4) hours?
No, the vehicle has to be moved off the city streets of Fontana.
This means you cannot park across the street, around the corner, on
a different block or within another neighborhood in the city.
If you do you can be cited.

If a person
moves the RV or Oversized Vehicle out of the city, goes to the store
and returns, does that four (4) hours start over again?
No, if it is observed in the city for four (4) hours and
returns, it can be cited.

What if there
is not enough space to park an RV or Oversized Vehicle in front of a
residence?
Then you have to use all of the available space in front of the
house and if it extends past the property line of a neighbor's than
it is ok. Keep in mind that you cannot block driveways.
You cannot park your oversized vehicle behind other cars you may
own, which causes the oversized vehicle or RV to extend much further
past your neighbors property line than it should. You have to
use all of the available space in front of your home, so if you have
other cars, you will have to park them elsewhere.

Can a visiting
relative or friend of a residence obtain a permit to park their
Oversized Vehicle or RV in front of a house?
No, only the person that lives at the house can. However,
the resident can obtain a permit for his/her visiting relative or
friend.

Does the
Oversized Vehicle or RV have to be registered to the residence it is
parked in front of?
No, as long as the person who lives in the house the vehicle is
parked in front of obtained the permit, similar to the visiting
relative or friend.

Can a person
obtain a permit for semi-trucks or tractor trailers?
No, semi-trucks and tractor trailers cannot be parked anywhere
in the city limits, unless they are loading or unloading.
Semi-trucks and tractor trailers are prohibited and fall under a
totally separate ordinance (FCC 30-312(f)).

Are trailers
considered Oversized Vehicles
Yes, they are non-motorized vehicles that are required to have
license plates and fall within this ordinance.

If a box
trailer is attached to an RV, is only one permit required?
Yes, one permit is sufficient, however both vehicle license
plates must be entered or the secondary vehicle will not be included
in the permit.

Can an
Oversized Vehicle or RV that broke down park until it is repaired?
No, however, there is an exception, which is under emergency
conditions for less than eight (8) hours. Under the section
emergency repairs means the need for sudden and unexpected repairs
that occurred during transport of the vehicle.

What are the
fines for Oversized Vehicles or RV's?
First offense is $100, second offense is $200 and the third is
$500.

Can I park an
Oversized Vehicle or RV in my driveway?
Yes, however no part of it, including hitches or other
attachments can extend past the public walkway.
