Reserve Officers are currently required to complete a minimum
of 200 hours of training at a police academy before working as a Reserve
Officer. After the initial training, the Reserve Officer receives an
additional 640 hours of supervised in-field training by the Field Training
Officers at the Fontana Police Department. Reserve Officers donate most of
their hours by working in the field assisting patrol officers, primarily during
night shifts and weekends, when calls for service are the highest.
