Traffic Unit

Traffic
Mission Statement

"Reduce the number and severity of traffic collisions; identify and resolve problems and criminal activity; increase the efficient use of our roadways."

The Traffic Unit's goals are to protect the safety of the motoring public, ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the city, and encourage the safe operation of vehicles within the city.  The Traffic Unit accomplishes these goals through proactive enforcement, by responding to and investigating traffic collisions and by developing solutions to various problem traffic areas within the city.

The Fontana Police Department strictly enforces all laws pertaining to unlicensed and suspended license drivers.  Fontana Police has a "zero tolerance" policy when considering whether or not to impound your vehicle.  This means if you are caught driving without a license or with a suspended or revoked license, the vehicle you are driving will be impounded.  For information on 30-day Impounds

Abandoned Vehicles - An abandoned vehicle is defined by the California Vehicle Code Section 22651(k) as any vehicle left parked or standing upon an highway for 72 or more consecutive hours.
