Mission
Statement
|
The School Resource Officer
Program is committed to help shape the future of Fontana. As
dedicated, innovative leaders, we will promote the success of our youth and
community through education and intervention designed to prevent crime and
encourage a safe learning environment. |
The School Resource Officer Program is
jointly funded by the City of Fontana, the Fontana Unified School District,
Colton Unified School District, and a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice
- Office of Community Oriented Policing (Cops in Schools Program).
The eight officers in the program are each assigned a middle
school. The officers teach anger management, anti-bullying, and conflict
resolution classes at the schools. Also offered are counseling, conflict
mediation, and crime awareness. Officers deal with issues such as truancy,
vandalism, fighting, threats, disruptive behavior in the classroom, and drug
use. During the off-track schedules, the officers will be in the
elementary schools teaching
