SHARPS Program

Image of a syringeHome generated SHARPS waste includes needles, syringes, lancets and other sharp objects used for home medical care. Fontana City residents can obtain FREE SHARPS CONTAINERS from the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility at 16454 Orange Way on Saturdays. Using a different container for SHARPS can cause injury and poses a potential health risk to family members, the public and sanitation workers
DO NOT THROW SHARPS IN THE TRASH!
Bring the full SHARPS container to the HHW collection
facility and exchange for a new container.
As of 2008, home generated sharps will no longer be allowed in the landfill.
All sharps must be placed in specified red biohazard containers
and taken to the local HHW.
