PRESS RELEASE

Fontana Encourages the Community to
Support Haiti Relief Efforts

Release Date: January 19, 2010

The Mayor and City Council join organizations and communities across the nation encouraging community members to support the earthquake recovery efforts for Haiti.

As stated on the official Clinton Bush Haiti Fund website, “at the request of President Obama”, President George W. Bush and President William J. Clinton have partnered to help the people in Haiti “reclaim their country” and begin to rebuild. The past presidents have launched a fund, Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, to raise needed funds in support of their first priority, “to save lives” through providing much needed basic necessities: shelter, food, water and medical aid.

The City of Fontana City Council members recognize the need for Fontana to support these relief efforts and in doing so have added the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund to the front page of the City website so Fontana residents and community members in the surrounding areas will have easy access to donate.

“It is our civic duty to spread the word and ask our community to help support the people of Haiti by donating today,” said Council Member Aquanetta Warren. To learn more about how you can help support the recovery efforts in Haiti or to make a donation to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, visit the City’s website at www.fontana.org.
