AARP Driver Safety Refresher Course
At Fontana’s Cypress Center

The Mayor and City Council invite seniors and adults to participate in the AARP Driver Safety Refresher course at Cypress Neighborhood Center on Wednesday, January 20 from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm. This course is designed to be a refresher course for seniors and adults who have taken the full eight hour driver safety course in the last four years. The fee for the course is $12.00 for AARP members and $14.00 for non-AARP members. A certificate of completion will be issued at the end of the class.

AARP has provided driver safety programs throughout the country since 1979. Topics to be covered in this course may include, ways to minimize the effects of blind spots, maintaining the proper following distance behind another car, safest ways to change lanes and make turns at busy intersections, proper use of safety belts, air bags, anti-lock brakes and new technologies used in cars, ways to monitor your own and others' driving skills and capabilities, the effects of medications on driving and the importance of eliminating distractions, such as eating, smoking, and cell-phone use while driving.
