The Mayor and City Council invite the public to experience the holiday season through unique and free cultural art performances and activities during the month of December. Performances take place at the Steelworkers’ Auditorium in the Lewis Library and Technology Center, located at 8437 Sierra Avenue.
Every Thursday night is Family Movie Night at the Auditorium. Movies start at 6:00 pm on Thursday nights. The dates for this month are December 3, 10 and 17. Shows are free and open to the public but seating is limited so arrive early to get a great seat and catch a movie.
On Tuesday December 1 at 6:00 pm, Active Creation features a live puppet show based on the popular children’s story Frog Belly Rat Bone. This puppet show is an interactive performance that’s fun for everyone! Based on the popular children’s story, this live rendition includes life-sized puppets and is sure to be a captivating experience!
On Wednesday December 2 at 6:00 pm, Inspired Entertainment will showcase a modern dance production based on the story of Little Red Riding Hood entitled The Better to Bite You With. Performed by L.A. Choreographers and Dancers, Inc., this modern dance show is sure to impress! This live dance performance will be a great way for families to get together, watch and listen to this classic story with a modern dance twist which will include audience participation so be prepared! It is important to note this show is replacing the December 8 show which has been cancelled.
On December 16 at 5:30 pm, Music Musings presents Holiday Caroling. Come experience the holiday cheer, sing along to your favorite songs and enjoy a cup of coffee from the Bookmark Café. This performance takes place in the courtyard of the Lewis Library and Technology Center.
On December 12, during the Festival of Winter from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Steelworkers’ Auditorium there will be performances by magician and illusionist Taylor Hughes, a dance showcases provided by Carole Lynne Dance Studio and dance instructor Nancy Sample. The Magic and Illusions shows start at 11:00 am and 1:30pm. The dance showcase by Carole Lynne Dance Studio will be performed at 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Wrapping up the day is Nancy Sample and her dance studio showcase at 4:15pm. All performances are free and are a part of the cultural arts programming in the City of Fontana.
