The Mayor and City Council invite the public to take in all that the Fontana Arts scene has to offer. Each month, Fontana’s Cultural Arts program offers the community a variety of performing art events happening in the heart of the city’s Civic Center Campus. Upcoming visual and performing shows take place at the Steelworkers’ Auditorium located at the Lewis Library and Technology Center, 8437 Sierra Avenue, the Art Depot Gallery located at 16822 Spring Street and the Center Stage Theatre, located at 8463 Sierra Avenue.
Art Depot - Every quarter, the Art Depot Gallery in Fontana features a local artist and displays their work. The Gallery’s fall Artist Showcase features artist Caron Rand and her work In Our Dreams. Rand’s showcase reflects and exposes the inhumane treatment of artists during World War II. Rand’s artwork includes the use of variously colored geometric shapes which were used to identify socially condemned groups in Nazi concentrations camps. Caron Rand’s showcase will run through November 25 and will also be featured at Family Art Day on Friday, November 6 from 6 to 9p.m. Family Art Day will include demonstrations from Rand, hands on activities as well as live entertainment and Cruise Night festivities. The Art Depot Gallery is free and open to the public Tuesday through Thursday from 10 am to 5 pm, Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 12 to 5 pm.
Steelworkers’ Auditorium – Free performing art shows for the whole family are taking place at the Steelworkers’ Auditorium, located at 8437 Sierra Avenue in the Lewis Library and Technology Center. Attendees will be swept away by exciting and inspiring cultural art performances with Inspired Entertainment on Tuesday, November 3 at 6:00 pm. Residents are encouraged to connect with their inner creativity as Active Creation presents fun, interactive and educational performances on Tuesday, November 17 at 6:00 pm.
Rounding-out the free performances is Music Musings on Wednesday, November 18 and at 5:30 pm. Enjoy live music performances while relaxing outside in the Lewis Library Courtyard with food or drink from the Bookmark Café.
Center Stage Theater – On Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, the theatre will present The Woman of 1,001 Voices and Faces comedy show. Actress Bethany Owens is sure to entertain the audience as she presents a one-woman show filled with music and incredible celebrity impersonations fashioned through song and comedic vocal parody. Lastly, Center Stage kicks-off Holiday Follies, a Tibbies holiday musical production on Thursdays and Sundays, November 27 through December 27. This holiday spectacular will feature the world-renowned Christmas production that has entertained over 200,000 guests in the last 13 years.
