PRESS RELEASE
Fontana
summer programming for youth
Release Date: May 20, 2008
Fontana,
California, May 19, 2008. The Mayor and City Council proudly embrace the City of Fontana’s national
recognition from America’s Promise Alliance as one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People. There are many
ways the city celebrates youth through cultural activities, most notably by providing some of the best summer
camp opportunities for children and teens to learn and socialize in safe environments.
Upcoming summer camps include the Artists in Nature series offered through the Mary Vagle Nature Center and the
Art Depot. Daily classes and interactions with the environment give students an opportunity to learn about the
ecosystem and their own talents. The Jack Bulik Teen Center summer camps offer week long sessions including learning
programs, games, and socializing with peers. The summer excursions, often sold out in 2007, will return every
Friday. Campers are welcome to participate for an additional fee.
Outside at the Ralph M. Lewis Sports Complex many children ages 4 to 13 will be engaged in games of soccer and
football. A soccer camp series followed by a football camp series will help young athletes to work on their skills
and techniques. 1st and 2nd graders will find an exciting and fun way to learn while on summer break with the
Summer Science classes at Heritage Neighborhood Center. The classes provide youth with hands on opportunities
and fun demonstrations in the lab.
A detailed listing of the camps and classes follow:
