PRESS RELEASE
150
volunteers support cleanup at Jurupa Park
Release Date: May 22, 2008
Fontana,
California, May 22, 2008. The Mayor and City Council proudly announce the continued involvement of
community service clubs and residents who repeatedly join the monthly park cleanups. On May 10, a total of 150
volunteers helped to pick up litter, rake weeds, and more at Jurupa Park. On Saturday, May 24, the public is
invited to join in this incredible beautification effort, which normally averages over 100 volunteers at a time,
as the group visits Metrolink station, located at 16777 Orange Way from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Cleanups are open
to all ages; children must have adult supervision. Snacks, lunch, and water are provided.
Fontana cleanup days are held year round at various locations each month. The events have proven to be great
fun for youth and service clubs as well as businesses looking to give back to the community or practice outdoor
team building skills. The cleanups are beneficial to the volunteers and the public as they serve as a reminder
of the importance of beautification efforts in an urban atmosphere as well as the significant role public parks
play in a community.
