Garden Rules And Procedures
As of February 2006
The
City of Fontana Community Garden is designed for the gardening
activities of the residents of Fontana. Pursuant to the City
Mission, no use will be in conflict with City or State ordinances.
The City of Fontana reserves the right to cancel the Community
Garden Use Permit without notice due to unforeseen circumstances
or non-compliance to the rules and procedures.
Application
And Payment Of Fees

Applications
will be accepted at the February 23, 2006 Community Garden
Meeting and payments will be taken beginning March 1.
Individuals who would like to lease a garden plot after
the February 23 meeting may do so at the Civic Auditorium
with the Facilities Coordinator between the hours of 9:00
a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Availability
of garden plots may be limited. Garden plots are assigned
on a "first-come, first-served basis". In the
event that all garden plots are in use, a waiting list
will be maintained. The Civic Auditorium is located at
9460 Sierra Ave., Fontana. For information on availability,

Participants must be residents of the City of Fontana.
Proof of residency required at time of application. (utility
bill, CA I.D. or CA drivers license.)

Waiting list participants will be contacted either by
phone or mail when a garden plot becomes available. Once
the City has initiated contact, participants will have
one (1) week to decide if they would like to lease a garden
plot. After one (1) week has expired, the next participant
on the waiting list will be contacted.

Contacts for current participants or list members with
incorrect addresses or phone numbers will be considered
unavailable.

There is a limit of one (1) garden plot per household.
Schools, group homes, or other non-profit agencies are
limited to two (2) plots based on availability. Garden
plots measure approximately 24’ X 32’, 18’
X 32’, and 12’ X 32’ with (2) two ADA
plots also available. Fees for these plots are as follows:

A
key deposit will be refunded only after the key has been
returned to the Facilities Coordinator. Failure to return
the assigned Do Not Duplicate key on or before March 1
will result in loss of key deposit. (replacement key $10)

Once a participant has been contacted regarding an available
garden plot, the participant must pay all applicable fees
for the lease to take effect. Garden plots are considered
leased only after payment of all fees has been received.
Garden plots are not prorated.

Fees are paid annually on or before March 15th of each
year. Failure to pay the annual fee by March 15th will
result in the garden plot being leased to another participant.
Participants will be notified to pay their annual fees
by mail or phone two (2) weeks prior to March 15th as
a courtesy.
