The City of Fontana has an annual budget of approximately
$150 million and is steadily growing. In the last ten years, the City's population has increased at record
rates to 139,100 residents.
Over the next ten years the City's population is projected to increase to over 175,000. More services
and supplies will continually be needed to meet the demands of such growth.

The following information outlines our purchasing
operations, procedures and policies. Our goal is to make the purchasing process easier for you while
concurrently maintaining the integrity of the process, that is, to facilitate the acquisition of the
best product or service at the least cost to the taxpayer.
Some enhancements the City has accomplished to date to further this goal include:
- Website presence including:
- E-Business (electronic buying)
- Implementation of the Procurement Card
- Multiple-year contracts with annual performance reviews
- Net-30-day payment schedule (with 95% actual achievement)
- Implementation of a Local Supplier Preference Policy
