The City of Fontana has partnered to offer a new prescription drug savings program for residents without health insurance, a traditional benefits plan, or who have prescriptions that are not covered by insurance.

Through collaboration with the National League of Cities (NLC) and made possible through Fontana’s membership in NLC, the card is FREE and available to all Fontana residents regardless of age, income or existing health insurance.

The NLC card can be used when purchasing prescription drugs at approximately 92 pharmacies around the City, as well as at more than 59,000 participating retail pharmacies across the country. Use of the card can save you an average of 20 percent of the regular retail price of prescription drugs. One card will cover an entire family.

“In the current economic climate, where many people are watching what they spend, the City of Fontana is happy to partner with the National League of Cities to make this prescription discount card available for our residents,” said Councilmember Janice Rutherford. “Whether or not an individual has prescription coverage, this program can make it easier for our residents to afford the drugs they need to deal with a short-term illness or stay healthy by managing a chronic condition.”

The NLC prescription discount card is administered by CVS Caremark, the largest provider of prescriptions and related health care services in the nation. CVS Caremark has administered prescription discount programs since 1992.

This program is not a health insurance program. Discounts are only available at participating pharmacies and savings may vary by drug and pharmacy. By using this card, participants agree to pay the entire prescription cost less any applicable discount.
