Taking Action Today to Shape the Fontana of Tomorrow
Additional segments of the Pacific Electric Trail will be completed.
Fontana residents have much to look forward to in 2010. Investments in programs, services and facilities have been strategically planned to benefit the community by improving efficiency and laying a foundation for continued prosperity.
In 2010, Fontana will launch a new City Web site. Designed to increase citizen access through the Web for residents, business owners and others interested in our city, the site will be easy to use and will provide useful information at the click of a mouse.
In 2010, residents will take part in the 2010 U.S. Census. The census is not only an accurate way to determine the population of the City, but it also determines the amount of state and federal funding the City receives over the next ten years. Participation in the census impacts public health, education, senior services and other areas important to the well-being of Fontana residents.
In the spring of 2010, Fontana will welcome a new addition to its state-of-the-art community facilities with the grand opening of the new Fontana Community Senior Center. When completed, the 43,855 square-foot center will be twelve times larger than Fontana’s existing senior center and will provide unique features and amenities to appeal to a variety of Fontana’s older adults.
The Senior Center will truly be a “one stop shop”, and included among its new services, programs and facilities will be a beauty salon, a fitness room, an arts and crafts room, a computer lab, health screening rooms, offices for social and counseling services, a billiards room, an art gallery, lounges for reading and socializing, a card parlor, a digital theater, and much more.
The Fontana Community Senior Center is another milestone for the senior community.
Other happenings in 2010 will include the expansion of the Fontana Police Department, construction and renovation of Fire Station 71, reconstruction of the parking at City Hall, construction of two additional segments of the Pacific Electric Trail, continuation of the Downtown Facade Renovation program on Sierra Avenue, ground breaking of the Paseo Verde Apartments on Valley Boulevard, ground breaking of the Ceres Way Apartments project, grand opening of the Piazza Senior Apartments, completion of the Cypress Overcrossing, completion of the architectural design of the Fontana Adult Sports Park, and completion of Phase I of the San Bernardino Avenue reconstruction.
Residents are invited to take part in all of the investments being made in 2010. To find out more about projects planned for 2010, continue to visit the City’s Web site throughout the year. Projects are highlighted as progress is made and updates are available on the home page and via press releases.
