From hundreds to thousands
In 1955 a total of 200 runners gathered at Lytle Creek to participate in the first Half Marathon run at the Fontana Days Run. Gradually, the event became a signal to the beginning of summer events in the city.
This year, a little over 1,700 people participated in the Fontana Days Run. The event draws crowds from as close as neighboring cities to as far as Africa. Some runners travel to California annually just to participate in the event.

Healthy families live in Fontana
Events for children are not only fun, they also encourage a love of physical fitness that underlies much of the Healthy Fontana way of life.
The Children’s Half Marathon Dash gives smaller runners an opportunity to compete in a marathon-type setting. Children, ages 5 to 11, stretch and get ready to race behind a starting line, run like crazy, and cross the finish line. The event always leaves smiles on faces and hearts beating fast.
