Final plans are complete for the 5th Annual Fontana Mayor’s Gala celebrating the heritage and history of Fontana with the theme “A Journey of Intrigue” while raising funds for the city’s future library.
Saturday March 31, beginning at 5 p.m., 500 partygoers will have an evening of dinner, dancing and entertainment with a silent auction and a photographic history of Fontana on display. Fontana Mayor Mark Nuaimi will deliver his annual state of the city address during the program.
“It’s an elegant evening for adults to come out and support their community as well as literacy in Fontana,” said Susanne Nuaimi, chair of the gala planning committee and the mayor's wife.
“It’s a chance for Fontana residents, boosters and their friends to get dressed up and have fun,” Mrs. Nuaimi added.

Elaborate decorations will transport Jack Bulik Pavilion into an Italian themed journey back in time to Fontana's heritage.
Proceeds from the black-tie requested affair will benefit the growing Library Fund which will support the new Library and Resource/Technology Center under construction in downtown Fontana.
The evening will feature dance music, entertainment, wine tasting, comedians and opera. A silent auction featuring items ranging from gift baskets to backyard décor and fountains as well as vacation trips and getaways will augment the fundraising effort, Nuaimi said.
“It takes us all year to plan. We have fun with it and there is something for everyone,” she added.

“The volunteer committee members do a tremendous job for this event,” Mrs. Nuaimi said. “They are an amazing group and we all have a wonderful time putting it all together and attending. In fact, we’ve had friends from all over come and enjoy themselves and leave very happy and full of compliments.”
Last year the gala raised about $160,000 for the Library Fund. The fund's total stands at $9.4 million, almost halfway to the $20 million goal according to Kathleen Fariss, Director of the Library Fund. The library is on schedule to open in Spring 2008.
Tickets for the gala are available from the City of Fontana at any community center. For more information about the event, or to obtain tickets, call the Community Services Office at (909) 428-8360.
