The Development Services Organization is in charge of ensuring that the growth,
development, and redevelopment of the community are commensurate
with the goals and objectives of the City Council and the General
Plan. The following are the departments/sections of the Development
Services Organization:
Planning Cases and Application Fees & Development Fees
One of the Organization's
major objectives is to be a "one stop" public counter
for answering development questions, providing assistance in plan
development, processing review submittals, inspection requests and
providing help on any of a variety of issues. Additionally,
the Organization is a central contact point for the business community
in the development of new land or the expansion of existing operations.
Often requests for development must first go before the Planning
Commission for review, and some may go on to the City Council for
final approval. This is handled through a variety of processes such
as Design Review, Conditional Use Permits, Administrative Site Plan
reviews, Tract maps, Parcel maps, infrastructure (street) improvement
plans, park plans, utility plans, and other application requests,
and through the enforcement of traffic, zoning, Building & Safety,
and engineering laws, practices and requirements. Upon submittal
of a project for consideration, Development Services staff processes
the necessary paperwork, analyzes the requests, submits reports
and recommendations to the appropriate groups, Boards, Commissions
and City Council responsible for the ultimate decision, and when
decided upon sees to it that what was approved is what actually
gets built.
