DEVELOPMENT SECTION
The Development Section of the Department
of Engineering is responsible for reviewing projects
and issuing permits related to flood zones, public easements and street rights-of-way,
property line information, drainage provisions, perimeter street designs and access
locations, technical checking of maps, street, storm drain and sewer plans and processing
bonds and improvement agreements. Additionally, the Development Section staff is responsible
for reviewing all projects submitted to the Planning Commission for review and approval.
Submitted projects may include Conditional Use Permits, Design Reviews, Tentative Parcel
Maps, Tentative Tract Maps, Zone Changes, Community or Specific Plans, or Administrative
Site Plan reviews. The Section provides support for other Department
of Engineering Sections
and checks submitted development plans and public inquiries for such items as:

Protection from flood hazards

Compliance with City Storm Drain
Master Plan

Drainage provisions
-
Perimeter street design and access
locations
-
Under-grounding of existing overhead
utilities
-
Technical checking of maps, street,
storm drain and sewer plans

Processing bonds and improvement
agreements
The Development Section of the Department
of Engineering also provides technical data to
private engineers, other City Organizations, and outside agencies, as well as assisting
the public at the Department
of Engineering’s public counter and/or on
the phone by answering questions or inquires regarding:

The City of Fontana’s Standard Plans for Public Works Construction represents a comprehensive
and easy to follow approach for use in conjunction with the Standard Specifications
for Public Works Construction, “Greenbook”, latest edition, required by the City for
proposed public works projects.
