It is the responsibility of the Department of Building & Safety to implement and enforce conformance to State laws and City ordinances that relate to structural, fire, health, and life safety requirements. This is done through the review of plans and the inspection of new construction or additions to / improvements of existing structures.

The Department of Building & Safety is divided into three sections:
