Neighborhood Watch Program
Community Involvement
Community involvement is a key in any crime prevention program. Many programs have been tried, all of which sought the active support of the community in fighting crime, such as Operation Identification, Block Parent, and Crime Prevention through Environmental Design surveys.
The Neighborhood Watch Program is designed to be operated by residents and aimed at getting people to take simple steps necessary to discourage crime in their neighborhood. Through this program, residents learn how to make their homes, possessions, and families less likely to be victimized by crime and aid in making their neighborhood and Fontana a safer place to live.
The responsibility for apprehending criminals is still the prime responsibility of the Police Department. No individual is asked to be a hero.
