Tonia Lewis was elected by the City of Fontana voters as City Clerk for a four-year term in November 2006. Her current term will expire in November 2018.

City Clerk Tonia Lewis works with Deputy City Clerk Cecilia Lopez-Henderson, who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the office.

The Deputy City Clerk is appointed by the City Manager and is the custodian of official records of the City of Fontana. The Deputy City Clerk manages the Citywide Records Management Program.

The City Clerk’s Office is responsible for: 
  • Preparing agendas and minutes for all City Council meetings
  • Processing all public records requests, claim forms, agreements / contracts, resolutions, and ordinances.
  • Receiving and opening bids for city projects
  • Maintaining the Municipal Code for the City

The City Clerk’s Office also serves as the City’s filing officer for campaign statements and conflict of interest statements as required by the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC). The Deputy City Clerk is the election filing officer and is responsible for coordinating all city elections.
