Do you enjoy spending time outdoors and learning more about the natural environment? Volunteering at the Nature Center offers many opportunities to nurture your curiosity about the natural world. It will also give you the chance to make a difference on behalf of our shared open space.
We incorporate volunteers in all aspects of our programs and we promise to help you find the best match for your interests and skills.
Becoming a Volunteer
If you would like to contribute your time and talents as a Nature Center volunteer, call us at (909) 349-6993 or e-mail us to set up an appointment to meet.
We have many active and growing programs at the Nature Center; whatever your interests are, we will work with you to find the best fit. All training is provided, along with our promise that you will not have to do anything you do not enjoy.
140 JustServe volunteers!
JustServe.org is provided as a service by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
We have many volunteer activities available:
Animal care volunteers will work with our animal care technician or other staff to maintain hygienic and attractive habitats in the animal exhibits, and assist with the exercise, feeding and care of the animals.
Education volunteers may assist with the Nature Center's Urban Ecology Program by preparing and setting-up materials and working directly with staff to conduct education programs.
In correlation with the Public Works team, we help maintain the outdoor park area with tasks such as mulching, weeding, and cleaning the pond.
Occasional or Special Events
Volunteers who are not able to commit to regularly scheduled hours at the Nature Center may join an “on call” list for occasional visits to assist with large programs or special events as the need for help arises.
We are always excited to mentor students and young people in the Nature Center Volunteer Program.
Our minimum age to volunteer is 16 years old. If you are over 18 years of age, you will need to pass a lifescan/fingerprint background check. If you are under 18, you will be required to have a parent/guardian attend the intro meeting and sign the liability waiver.
